Seedlings Fables from the Forest by C D Baker
By April
In this imaginative storybook of five forest fables, young readers discover the values of thankfulness, forgiveness, humility, helpfulness, and kindness. (taken from the back of the book)
This book is recommended for children ages 4-8. It seems to fit in this category nicely. There are only a few pictures, but they're absolutely beautiful. Each story is about five pages and can easily be read to children in one sitting.
We love the interactive feature of this book. At the end of each fable, there is a series of questions to prompt discussion with children. These are thought-provoking questions that will be easy for children to answer, but at the same time get them to understand how their actions and words affect their surroundings.
At the end of each fable is a short Bible verse that ties into the story. They're short enough that children can easily memorize and use them to capture memory of the story.
The stories are actually told from the perspective of the trees. Since there is great diversity in the trees, each one has a different point of view and it shows clearly in the stories.
